jinks: (gabe because i can)
So, wow, it's been a while since I last updated. I have been legitimately busy, but I've also been a little in mourning. John Hughes and Les Paul and Allen Shellenberger all going in quick succession was a bit much, world.

On the day, I decided to make a playlist in honour of the music John Hughes used in his movies. The music was as much a part of the movies as the script, in many ways, as good soundtracks often are.

Here's to you, John Hughes. You shaped my childhood, and will be sorely missed. (We'll ignore the fact that you were responsible for Beethoven, including all of the sequels, since that's probably best left alone.)

Playlist:

Psychedelic Furs - Pretty in Pink (Pretty in Pink)
Yello - Oh Yeah (Ferris Bueller's Day Off)
Oingo Boingo - Weird Science (Weird Science)
Stray Cats - Sixteen Candles (Sixteen Candles)
Jesse Johnson & Stephanie Spruill - Heart Too Hot To Hold (The Breakfast Club)
Otis Reading - Try A Little Tenderness (Pretty In Pink)
The Beatles - Twist & Shout (Ferris Bueller's Day Off)
Silicon Teens - Red River Rock (Planes, Trains & Automobiles)
Altered Images - Happy Birthday (Sixteen Candles)
Marvin Gaye - How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You) (She's Having A Baby)
Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark - Tesla Girls (Weird Science)
Van Morrison - Crazy Love (She's Having A Baby)
Simple Minds - Don't You (Forget About Me) (The Breakfast Club)
