From 15 to not-quite-24 is a strange journey. Your focuses change, and while you may not stop listening to a band, they no longer take up as much of your world as they once did.
When I was 15, Nine Inch Nails were most of my world. For various reasons, I needed an escape, and this band afforded me the kind of escape I needed. I listened to The Downward Spiral at least once a day. Then, when The Fragile came out, I bought it and listened to it all the time.
Since And All That Could Have Been.live and .still I've sort of lost track. I remember seeing the videos for The Hand That Feeds and Only, and then later Survivalism, but never got around to buying the albums. And still haven't, oddly enough.
Today, I found out that Trent Reznor had put his latest album out for free download, because he had broken with his record company because he was disillusioned with the prices they were charging for his music. The Slip is available here, and I would urge you all to go and download it. It's Nine Inch Nails. I can't wait to listen to it.
